Support letter for Commissioner candidates Fryman and Raznick
There are two contested Huron County commissioner positions on our Nov. 3rd ballot. Perhaps now is the time for a change? In 2025, the Ohio legislature passed HB 96 (CCAO.org/bulletin 2025-14) giving county elected officials across Ohio a 5% raise for each year 2026 thru 2029, by which time our county commissioners will earn $89K plus health and pension benefits annually. In past years our commissioners have treated these well-paying jobs as part-time, continuing with other employment and businesses. They have also wrangled with Erie County over transfer station garbage problems, pursuing a lawsuit costing Huron County taxpayers $1.2 million in legal fees. Recently the Norwalk community has watched a several-years battle over commissioner approval for a land purchase agreement for the elementary school site while land and construction costs increased. A generous donor finally resolved the issue by purchasing the needed land. Do so many important issues have to be contested? Where is the spirit of problem-solving, collaboration and transparency with these guys?
Consider candidates Cassaundra Fryman, Plymouth Mayor, who has brought in $4.2 M in infrastructure and project funding to her community in two terms; and Kevin Rasnick, who served on Monroeville Village Council, was Executive Director for the Norwalk Chamber of Commerce, and sat on the MRDD board. Neither are Democrat or Republican. Google their web sites. They offer collaboration, transparency and community-building across Huron County, and will be full-time on the job. Isn’t it about time for a more available, open and welcoming commissioners’ trio? Vote Fryman and Rasnick for commissioners on November 3rd.

HCDP Secretary
